Mona House is a traditional Victorian Lakeland slate townhouse situated on a quiet conservation street close to the town centre. Recently refurbished and updated, it provides the comforts of a modern home whilst still retaining its period features.
The house is family and group-friendly and has been set up to accommodate up to 8 adults (max) in shared or separate beds, or up to 10 including children. It is centrally located and so all of Keswick’s attractions are a short level walk away – town centre (3 mins), play park / leisure pool (5 mins), Derwentwater foreshore (10 mins).
We aim to provide you with a great stay by providing all the essentials for a holiday cottage break – linen and towels, a really well equipped kitchen, waterproof maps/flasks/picnic boxes for days out, free unlimited wi-fi for days in and some ideas on what to do and how to get about locally. I’m sorry but we don’t accept pets and the house is strictly non-smoking.

There is free, unlimited parking on-street outside the house.
There is a Spar shop a 2 minute walk from the house. There are larger supermarkets within walking distance.
The house is not particularly suited to those with mobility impairments due to several changes in levels throughout the house. Our accessibility statement gives more detail, or call to discuss.
About the Owner
My name is Nigel and I live in Yorkshire with my wife and two kids. I have been going to Keswick for 30 years. It’s changed a lot in that time but the draw remains the same – a great place to enjoy time with friends and family. What started with mountain bike adventures in the 90s has turned into a base for family adventures, starting with the play park, wave pool and crazy golf and as the kids have grown moving on to mountain biking, kayaking and (more reluctantly) some plain old fell walking. We love the fact that we rarely feel the need to drive anywhere once there.
We bought Mona House as a bit of a wreck in 2009 whilst I was at home with the kids and in need of a distraction from household duties. It now forms part of a ‘portfolio career’ for me, which means I’m still organising the house and kids and need income wherever I can get it! We try to keep our prices relatively low, which keeps the house full, the cleaner busy and keeps people spending money in Keswick. We no longer get to use the house as much as we used to but it’s great to know that people are enjoying the house and Keswick as much as we do. We pay our cleaner in excess of the ‘Living Wage’.
